We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support heavy civils construction on a Thames Water Capital Delivery contract in South East London. Works include pipelines, deep drainage, shafts, chambers, reinforced concrete structures, and associated temporary works that improve resilience and environmental performance across the network. This is a long-term opportunity within a busy programme. Water Civil experience is essential.

The Role

  • Provide accurate setting out, engineering control, and quality assurance to keep construction safe, compliant, and on programme.
  • Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Engineer, and framework delivery teams to coordinate subcontractors, maintain site records, and manage handover in line with Thames Water requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and update site drawings in AutoCAD and, where required, Civil 3D.
  • Maintain drawing registers and revision control in line with framework standards.
  • Prepare and verify ITPs, QA records, as-builts, red-lines, and full handover packs to Thames Water documentation standards.
  • Support temporary works compliance and inspections with the TWC.
  • Contribute to RAMS, permits, lift plans, and daily briefings, ensuring Thames Water health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Undertake materials testing and reconciliations, including concrete cube tests and backfill compaction checks.
  • Raise and track Technical Queries and Early Warning Notices in line with NEC processes.
  • Coordinate traffic management, utilities interfaces, and access constraints in an urban environment.
  • Maintain site diaries, progress reports, and survey logs to support programme and commercial control.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer delivering heavy civils within the water sector, ideally on Thames Water or similar UK water capital delivery frameworks.
  • Strong setting out capability and sound understanding of engineering control principles.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Civil 3D experience beneficial.
  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • CSCS card.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Appointed Person for lifting and Temporary Works Coordinator are desirable.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
