Are you an experienced Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer looking to play a key leadership role in a growing Infrastructure Engineering team? Do you enjoy leading complex projects, developing engineers and building strong client relationships?

Salary: 68,000 – 80,000

Location: London office, located near Blackfriars (minimum 2 days in office)

I’m working exclusively with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to appoint an Associate into their growing Infrastructure Engineering team in London. The business has built an excellent reputation for delivering complex engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK, operating across structural engineering, civil engineering and infrastructure services within sectors such as transport, rail, maritime and the built environment.

You will join a close-knit Infrastructure Engineering team delivering infrastructure projects across the UK. With a strong pipeline of frameworks and project work, the team is looking to strengthen its senior leadership capability to support project delivery, technical assurance, commercial performance and the development of a growing group of engineers, graduates and apprentices.

This is a senior technical and leadership role, requiring strong engineering fundamentals, confidence reviewing and approving designs, and the ability to oversee projects. You will also contribute to work winning, client development, project governance, resource management and the continued growth of the department.

Essential Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a civil or structural engineering role
  • Strong engineering fundamentals
  • Experience delivering complex infrastructure or civil engineering projects
  • Excellent understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, engineering standards and design principles
  • Experience leading projects and managing a team of engineers
  • Experience of project financial management and strong commercial awareness
  • Experience contributing to bids, tenders, fee proposals or technical proposals
  • Experience of multidisciplinary design coordination and integration
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations

Desirable Experience

  • Rail infrastructure experience

You will work across a wide range of infrastructure projects, including:

  • Structural design and assessment of bridges and complex structures
  • Station capacity upgrades and infrastructure improvement works
  • Retaining structures and enabling works
  • Depot extensions and portal frame structures
  • Footbridges, staircases and lift structures as part of accessibility schemes
  • Major structural assessments including trusses and historic structures
  • Temporary works and demolition design associated with infrastructure projects
