Are you an experienced drainage design engineer looking for your next contract opportunity? This role is suited to a Senior Drainage Engineer with strong technical expertise in drainage and SuDS design, who enjoys taking ownership of design delivery across infrastructure projects. You will be working on a variety of civil engineering schemes, contributing to drainage strategy development, detailed design, and coordination with wider multidisciplinary teams. The position requires someone confident in delivering high-quality drainage solutions from concept through to detailed design, with the ability to manage technical outputs and engage with external stakeholders where required.
What You'll Be Working On:
- Highway drainage systems
- SuDS and surface water management design
- Flood risk and drainage strategy development
- Infrastructure and transport-related civil engineering schemes
- Utility coordination and adoptable drainage elements
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver drainage and SuDS design across multiple infrastructure projects
- Produce and review calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation
- Develop drainage strategies and support flood risk assessments
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including authorities and utility providers
- Support adoptable sewer applications and technical approval processes
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK design standards and BIM requirements (ISO 19650)
- Work within multidisciplinary design teams to integrate drainage solutions
- Identify and resolve technical issues throughout project delivery
- Maintain high standards of technical quality and design assurance
About You:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline (BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng)
- Experience in drainage and SuDS design within infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of CIRIA C753 SuDS Manual guidance
- Experience using drainage design software such as InfoDrainage or equivalent
- Understanding of UK drainage standards and construction practices
- Experience working with statutory authorities and utility companies
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Experience producing flood risk assessments and drainage strategies (desirable)
- Experience with adoptable sewer processes (desirable)
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage workload and deliver to deadlines
