What you will be doing

• As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of civil engineering projects, helping to control costs, manage contractual obligations and protect the commercial position of the business.
• Preparing valuations and applications for payment with the required supporting documentation.
• Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts and internal commercial reports.
• Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts from procurement and appointment through to final account agreement.
• Preparing and maintaining subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administering contracts and maintaining accurate change-management and commercial registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, variations and value-engineering options.
• Monitoring project expenditure, cash flow and overall commercial performance.
• Reviewing subcontractor payments and ensuring they are appropriately assessed and authorised.
• Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Supporting the resolution of contractual and commercial matters.
• Mentoring junior members of the commercial team where required.
• Supporting the successful delivery of projects in accordance with contractual, legal and quality requirements.

What you will bring

• A relevant qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction or a related discipline.
• Strong quantity surveying experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction.
• Experience managing the commercial performance of projects from procurement through to final account.
• A good understanding of standard forms of contract and methods of measurement.
• Experience preparing valuations, cost reports, forecasts and subcontractor accounts.
• The ability to identify and manage commercial risks, variations and contractual changes.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• A commercially focused, organised and methodical approach.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
• Experience across general civil engineering projects would be particularly beneficial.

Location and working arrangements
