Are you a Project Engineer looking for your next contract opportunity within the power and utilities sector?

We are recruiting Project Engineers across a range of experience levels to support the successful delivery of electricity distribution projects throughout the North East and Yorkshire.

These roles offer the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure schemes, contributing to the development, reinforcement and maintenance of the electricity network.

Engineers will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design coordination and technical assurance through to construction support and commissioning.

Projects cover a variety of asset types, including underground cable systems, overhead lines, substations and associated civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of LV to 132k V electricity distribution projects.
  • Provide technical input and engineering assurance during design and construction phases.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget while maintaining quality standards.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across cable, overhead line, substation and civil work packages.
  • Review technical drawings, calculations, specifications and project documentation.
  • Liaise with design teams, site personnel, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Identify engineering risks and contribute to practical technical solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
  • Assist with project commissioning, handover and close-out activities where required.

About You

  • Experience working in a Project Engineer or similar engineering role within the power or utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution projects from LV through to 132k V.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: substations, underground cables, overhead lines or civil engineering works.
  • Understanding of engineering design, technical governance and project delivery principles.
  • Able to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Previous experience working on DNO, ICP or electricity network projects would be advantageous.

These contract opportunities are based across multiple sites in the North East and Yorkshire, with travel required depending on project requirements.

The roles are offered inside IR35, with rates ranging from £375 to £575 per day, depending on experience and level of responsibility.
