Are you an Engineering Geologist / Senior Engineering Geologist looking to take ownership of technical delivery, work on rail-focused geotechnical projects and support junior colleagues? My client is recruiting for an Engineering Geologist / Senior Engineering Geologist to join a multidisciplinary civil, structural and geotechnical team in Leeds. You will be delivering ground investigation, geotechnical design, reporting and project support across a range of UK projects, with a strong focus on rail.
What you will be doing
- Producing and reviewing interpretative geotechnical reports
- Developing ground models and supporting geotechnical design
- Undertaking earthworks, slope and infrastructure assessments
- Carrying out Preliminary Risk Assessments and Mining Risk Assessments
- Supervising ground investigations and site activities
- Supporting project management, budgets, programmes and technical submissions
- Attending client meetings, technical discussions and site visits
- Mentoring junior geologists and engineers
- Promoting quality, health, safety and environmental compliance
What we're looking for
- A degree in Geology or a related discipline
- Around 6-8 years' relevant industry experience
- Experience in rail, earthworks inspections and reporting
- Experience producing Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Mining Risk Assessments
- Ground investigation planning, specification, supervision and reporting experience
- Knowledge of ground models, geotechnical design, UK standards and legislation
- Ability to use geotechnical software and carry out hand calculations
- Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site
An MSc in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field, and progress towards CGeol or CEng, would be beneficial.

Salary is dependent on experience. You will be based in Leeds, working full-time across office and site environments. You will have the opportunity to work on varied rail and geotechnical projects, develop technically, support junior team members and progress your professional career.
