Are you an experienced Supervisor with a background in grounds maintenance, horticulture or highways maintenance? We're working with a leading highways infrastructure contractor to recruit a Supervisor to support the delivery of essential highways maintenance services across the Isle of Wight. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with long-term contracts, varied work and genuine career progression.
This is a varied leadership role where you'll oversee operational teams delivering grounds maintenance, drainage, street cleansing and winter maintenance activities across the local highway network.
The Role
Reporting into the Operations team, you'll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. While the role is primarily office-based, you'll regularly visit sites to monitor progress, support operational teams and ensure projects are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise operational teams delivering highways maintenance services.
- Plan and coordinate daily and weekly programmes of work.
- Manage grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, tree maintenance and weed control.
- Oversee drainage, street cleansing and winter maintenance operations.
- Allocate labour, plant and materials to maximise operational efficiency.
- Carry out site inspections and monitor quality, safety and productivity.
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve issues effectively.
- Manage subcontractors and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Monitor costs, order materials and support budget control.
- Ensure all works comply with health, safety and environmental standards.

Essential
- Previous experience in a Supervisor, Team Leader or Foreperson position.
- Strong background in horticulture, grounds maintenance or landscape maintenance.
- Experience planning and coordinating operational teams.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Highways maintenance experience.
- Drainage or street cleansing experience.
- Winter maintenance knowledge.
- Experience managing subcontractors.
Salary & Benefits
