A local authority is seeking an experienced Operational Training and Compliance Officer to establish and deliver a comprehensive operational training and competency programme across Waste Services and the wider operational workforce. This is a hands-on improvement role responsible for developing training programmes, competency assessments and compliance systems for drivers, loaders, street cleansing operatives and other operational employees. The role will ensure staff are trained, assessed and competent to undertake their duties safely and in accordance with legislative requirements and Council procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a structured operational training programme.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive training and competency matrix for all operational employees.
- Deliver inductions for new permanent, temporary and agency staff.
- Undertake practical driver assessments, vehicle familiarisation and licence checks.
- Deliver driver refresher training and periodic reassessments.
- Train all operational staff in risk assessments, safe systems of work, including manual handling, vehicle safety, equipment use and operational procedures.
Essential Experience:
- Experience delivering operational and driver training within a fleet, waste, highways or local authority environment.
- Experience designing and implementing training programmes and competency frameworks.
- Good knowledge of DVSA guidance, operator licence compliance and Health & Safety legislation.
- Full UK Driving Licence (LGV entitlement desirable).
