We are recruiting for a Senior Design Manager to support the delivery of complex infrastructure works on HS2 near Banbury. This role offers the opportunity to work within a Tier 1 contractor environment managing the design process across key civils packages including bridges, structures, and earthworks. This position is available on either a permanent basis or as an Inside IR35 contract.

The role:
As Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing external design houses and ensuring all designs are coordinated, buildable, commercially viable, and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing and reviewing designs across major civils packages
- Coordinating external design consultants and stakeholders
- Ensuring designs are practical and aligned with construction delivery
- Supporting commercial and operational teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Driving programme, quality, and compliance standards

- Major infrastructure packages
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Senior Design Manager on major infrastructure projects
- Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor OR within a consultancy on major infrastructure schemes
- Experience reviewing designs from both technical and delivery perspectives
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project constraints
- Ability to manage external design houses effectively
- HS2 project experience would be desirable
- Heavy civils or large-scale infrastructure background

Candidates currently working within consultancy environments will only be considered if they have demonstrable experience supporting or delivering the actual construction phase of major infrastructure projects, alongside strong commercial awareness.
