This senior leadership role will play a pivotal part in driving strategic communications, supporting organisational change, enhancing reputation management, and embedding a more proactive and aligned communications function.
Working closely with the Communications and Campaigns leadership team, you will provide senior-level communications support, oversee key projects linked to significant service changes, and help shape the future direction of internal and external communications activity across the organisation.
What you will do as Head of Communications:
- Lead project management and team coordination activities related to reputation management and public consultations concerning significant service changes.
- Deputise for and support the Communications and Campaigns Director in developing and embedding new planning processes across the communications function.
- Drive the implementation of an account management-based approach to improve cross-council support, collaboration, and strategic alignment.
- Shift the focus of key communications channels from reactive content publishing towards proactive, long-term communications strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
What you will need as Head of Communications:
- Proven experience operating at a senior communications leadership level within a complex organisation.
- Experience managing reputation-sensitive projects, public consultations, and strategic communications campaigns.
- Excellent project management and team leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities effectively.
