An established independent town planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate/Principal Town Planner to join its growing Bristol office. This role offers the opportunity to take a senior position within a collaborative and well-regarded planning team, working on projects across the UK and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident planning professional looking to step into a leadership-focused role, with responsibility for project delivery, client engagement and mentoring junior colleagues.

The Role

  • Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Provide clear, strategic planning advice to clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and oversee high-quality planning applications, supporting statements and appeal submissions.
  • Represent clients at meetings with local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Support senior leadership with project delivery, workload management and client account development.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, promoting best practice and professional development.
  • Contribute to business development activities and the wider profile of the consultancy.

About You

  • Approximately 10 years’ professional planning experience (public or private sector).
  • MRTPI qualification (essential).
  • Strong experience in development management and planning strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining high standards of work.
  • Strong professional judgement with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
