What you will be doing
- As the Civil Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of civil engineering projects, helping to control costs, manage contractual obligations and protect the commercial position of the business.
- Preparing valuations and applications for payment with the required supporting documentation.
- Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts and internal commercial reports.
- Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts, from procurement and appointment through to final account agreement.
- Preparing and maintaining subcontract and material procurement schedules.
- Administering contracts and maintaining accurate change-management and commercial registers.
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, variations and value-engineering options.
- Monitoring project expenditure, cash flow and commercial performance.
- Reviewing subcontractor payments and ensuring they are appropriately authorised.
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects in accordance with contractual, legal and quality requirements.
What you will bring
- A relevant qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction or a related discipline.
- Quantity surveying experience gained within civil engineering, construction or infrastructure.
- A strong understanding of standard forms of contract and methods of measurement.
- Experience preparing valuations, cost reports, forecasts and subcontractor accounts.
- The ability to identify and manage commercial risks and contractual changes.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- A commercially focused and organised approach to project delivery.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Experience across general civil engineering projects would be particularly beneficial.
