Exciting Opportunity for a Principal Quantity Surveyor in Derby
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Principal Quantity Surveyor to join the Property, Design and Maintenance Team in Derby. In this key role, you will take the lead in financial management for building projects, ensuring they are delivered on budget and in line with procurement and financial procedure rules. You'll be responsible for preparing capital and life-cycle cost feasibility studies, managing project cash flows, and providing contract management services for the Commercial team.
The main duties of the Principal Quantity Surveyor include:
- Leading financial management for key building projects, including financial planning, control, and monitoring.
- Preparing capital and life-cycle cost feasibility studies to determine project affordability.
- Producing and maintaining cash flow profiles for projects and assisting with capital budgets.
- Preparing Bills of Quantity/Schedules of Work to enable tendering contractors to price consistently.
- Coordinating and facilitating Value Management workshops and studies to ensure value for money.
- Liaising with the design team to ensure coordinated financial management and effective project delivery.
- Ensuring projects are delivered with economy, effectiveness, and efficiency, meeting client requirements.
- Managing the preparation, monitoring, and management of project budgets.
- Handling procurement, contract management, and tender processes, including evaluation and negotiation.
- Leading the development and implementation of policies and systems aimed at securing best value.
The Principal Quantity Surveyor will have key experience in:
- Significant experience in quantity surveying and construction project financial management.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and economics.
- Experience managing and delivering multiple projects within budget and to client satisfaction.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and value engineering techniques.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, along with relevant professional qualifications.
- Ability to lead teams, manage resources, and ensure high-quality project delivery.
- A strong understanding of relevant legislation, including procurement rules and the CDM regulations.
