Are you a commercially astute Estimator with client-side experience in major rail projects? Do you enjoy working on complex, high-value programmes where your input genuinely shapes outcomes? Salary: Birmingham: £85,000 to £90,00 London: £90,000 to £100,000 Location: Hybrid: 3 days in Birmingham or 3 days in London (your choice), remainder remote You’ll step into a visible, client-facing role with a global consultancy delivering a nationally significant, multi-billion-pound high-speed rail programme across stations, depots, heavy civils and rail systems (signalling, OLE, traction power). You’ll sit in a client-facing cost & commercial team, focusing on reviewing and validating existing estimates rather than building bottom-up, challenging assumptions, and closing scope gaps across complex, multi-disciplinary packages. Essential Requirements: Strong rail infrastructure background in heavy civils, stations/depots, or rail systems (signalling, OLE, power). Estimating experience at project or programme level. Client-side or consultancy experience. Able to review and interrogate existing estimates, identify scope gaps, and challenge assumptions. Experience producing or reviewing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) – understanding of cost breakdowns, variations and change management. Proficient with Excel. Confident communicator – able to work independently and liaise with senior client stakeholders. Nice to Have: Chartered status (RICS / CICES / similar) or equivalent senior-level experience. Exposure to major public-sector clients (DfT, Network Rail, Transport authorities, or large infrastructure bodies). CostX, Power BI or similar advantageous
