The Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing commercial team. The role will involve pricing, cost control, and commercial management across a diverse range of civil engineering and specialist construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional looking to work on technically interesting projects within a well-established and respected organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and tenders for civil engineering and specialist construction projects
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and bill of quantities preparation
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Assist with commercial management of live projects, including valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts
  • Support contract administration and change control processes
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and technical teams across multiple divisions
  • Identify cost risks and value engineering opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor and/or Estimator within civil engineering or construction
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, tendering, and commercial management
  • Experience working with NEC and/or JCT contracts (desirable)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Proficient in estimating and commercial software (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred due to nationwide projects)
