My client is expanding its UK infrastructure team and is looking to appoint a Senior Bridge Inspector to support a growing portfolio of highway and rail inspection projects.
This Senior Bridge Inspector opportunity offers the chance to join an established consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects, while giving you the autonomy to lead inspections and contribute to the development of inspection capability across the business.
As a Senior Bridge Inspector, you will be carrying out General, Principal and Special Inspections on bridges and associated structures in accordance with industry standards including CS 450 and NR/L3/CIV/006. You will also support inspection planning, technical reporting and project delivery across a range of highways and rail schemes.
My client is particularly interested in speaking with professionals who already hold Certified Senior Bridge Inspector (SBI) status through BICS, as this is a key requirement for the role. Experience mentoring junior inspectors would be beneficial, although the primary focus is on strong technical inspection capability and proven delivery experience.
What you will be doing:
- Carrying out General, Principal and Special bridge inspections across highways and rail infrastructure
- Producing and reviewing detailed inspection reports
- Supporting inspection planning and coordination activities
- Working across projects throughout the UK when required
- Assisting with technical proposals and bid submissions
- Identifying and managing inspection-related risks
- Supporting and developing less experienced inspectors pursuing BICS qualifications
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

- Certified Senior Bridge Inspector (SBI) accreditation through BICS
- Proven bridge inspection experience within highways and/or rail infrastructure
- Experience producing inspection reports for clients such as National Highways, local authorities or Network Rail
- Relevant access qualifications such as PTS, National Highways Passport or PASMA
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a wider technical team
