Are you an Electrical Engineer with experience in LV systems looking to develop your design career? Would you like to work on a varied portfolio of rail projects including stations, depots, signalling power and points heating? Salary: Assistant Engineer: £30,000 to £40,000+ DOE Engineer: £35,000 to £55,000 DOE Location: Epsom, Glasgow, Birmingham, Derby or York. Hybrid, typically 2 to 3 days per week in the office I am recruiting for an Assistant Electrical Engineer and Electrical Engineer to join my client's established M&E engineering practice. My client has a strong pipeline of work across rail stations, depots and wider E&P schemes and is looking to strengthen the team at Assistant and Engineer level. I am particularly interested in people with strong LV fundamentals who want to build their design capability within a major engineering consultancy. Previous rail experience is useful but isn't essential. I am happy to speak with electrical engineers from commercial, building services or other relevant environments where they can demonstrate good LV knowledge and an understanding of electrical design principles. There is a particular need in Epsom and Glasgow, although I can consider candidates for the wider office network. What will you be doing? Supporting and delivering LV electrical designs across rail infrastructure projects Working across stations, depots, signalling power, points heating and associated M&E systems Undertaking electrical calculations including voltage drop, cable sizing and earthing Applying BS 7671 and relevant electrical standards to designs Supporting inspection, testing and assessment of existing installations Producing and reviewing calculations, drawings and technical documentation Identifying practical design issues and ensuring proposed solutions are technically appropriate Working alongside experienced engineers across multidisciplinary project teams Supporting projects from early design through to detailed delivery What am I looking for? Around 2 to 3 years' relevant experience for Assistant Engineer level, or 3 to 5 years for Engineer level Good knowledge of LV electrical systems Working knowledge of BS 7671 An understanding of electrical inspection and testing Practical electrical design knowledge rather than solely experience reading or producing drawings Understanding of areas such as voltage drop, cable sizing, protection and earthing Good communication and problem-solving skills An interest in progressing towards professional registration Experience using software such as Trimble electrical design tools, Dialux or ETAP would be beneficial but isn't essential. Experience with load monitoring would also be advantageous. This could be a particularly good move for someone who has completed an apprenticeship or early-career programme and now wants exposure to larger and more technically varied infrastructure projects. My client actively supports professional development and professional registration. If you're interested, please get in touch with me to discuss the opportunity in more detail ()
