Location: Willesden Junction, London

Contract Duration: 18 months (Forecast end date: 27/07/2027)

Working Hours: Weekdays, 40 hours per week

Rate: £500 - £600 per day (Inside IR35)

On-site Requirement: 5 days a week

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for overseeing environmental management and compliance at Willesden Euro Terminal (WET), which is a Non-Hazardous Waste Transfer Station operating under an Environment Agency Bespoke Waste Management Permit. This facility handles tunnel arising soils, transferring them by conveyor and rail to disposal facilities. The successful candidate will act as the Technically Competent Manager (COCT) under the WAMITAB scheme, as required by the Environment Agency permit. The role is part of the Environment & Sustainability team supporting the HS2 Main Works Civils Contract within the London area. The team is responsible for strategic oversight to ensure client, programme, and parent company objectives and targets are met during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Technically Competent Manager (COCT) in compliance with the WAMITAB scheme.
  • Provide environmental management support and oversight for WET operations, ensuring compliance with the Environment Agency's Waste Management Permit.
  • Manage environmental consenting, ensuring all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to environmental legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and the Environment Agency to ensure effective communication and compliance.
  • Conduct audits and provide assurance on environmental performance.
  • Support the Environment & Sustainability team in achieving strategic environmental objectives.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • WAMITAB certification (Technically Competent Manager).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Environmental degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in environmental management, environmental consenting, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with audit and assurance processes.
  • Ability to manage environmental risks and ensure compliance with environmental policies and regulations.

Location & Accessibility:

  • Willesden Euro Terminal is accessible by public transport, located between North Acton (Central Line) and Willesden Junction (Bakerloo, Lioness, and Mildmay Lines).
