We are recruiting an experienced Scheme Delivery Manager for a long‑term highways maintenance and improvement contract in Suffolk. This key role delivers essential highway works across multiple schemes and workstreams. The successful candidate plays a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain programmes for highways schemes, ensuring safe and timely delivery
- Coordinate labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors effectively
- Oversee health & safety on construction projects, ensuring Construction Phase Plans, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place
- Liaise with designers, network managers, stakeholders, and local communities
- Monitor and take responsibility for commercial performance in collaboration with commercial teams
- Maintain accurate site records including site diaries, progress reports, and as‑built information
- Support the development of construction programmes, phasing plans, and method statements
- Build strong relationships with supply chain partners and subcontractors
- Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), buildability reviews, and Traffic Management planning
- Contribute to Value Management and Value Engineering processes
- Ensure full compliance with company QSE processes and reporting requirements
Requirements
- SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
- CSCS card
- Experience delivering highways or civil engineering schemes
- Strong knowledge of health & safety and programme management
- HNC / Degree qualification (desirable, not essential)
- Full UK driving licence
