Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager in the water sector. I am working with a leading engineering provider in the water industry who are looking to hire a Project Manager to join their established Projects team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation in civil, mechanical, electrical, or ICA engineering who loves delivering complex projects from concept through to completion.

You will be working on major wastewater treatment and water infrastructure projects, many of which fall under AMP frameworks for the UK's water utilities. If you are looking to develop your career, take ownership of impactful engineering schemes, and work across a range of treatment disciplines and technologies, this is a role that offers both challenge and progression.

What You Will Be Working On:

  • Wastewater treatment site upgrades
  • Replacement and improvement of existing treatment assets
  • Biological treatment enhancements
  • Aeration systems
  • Filtration and settlement systems
  • Flow measurement upgrades
  • Pumping station improvements
  • Screening systems
  • Chemical dosing and mixing
  • Storm storage solutions
  • Pollution, spill, and flood mitigation
  • PLC/SCADA upgrades including hardware and software replacement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery: Manage projects across design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning. Ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with industry standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies. Engage with major water companies and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee all engineering elements (Mechanical, Electrical, ICA & Civils). Review and approve GAs, P&IDs, FDS documents, control philosophies, and PLC/SCADA designs.
  • Safety, Health, Environment & Quality: Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and ISO 45001/14001/9001. Promote a strong safety culture on all projects.
  • Financial Management: Manage project budgets, forecasts, variations, and compensation events. Maintain strong commercial oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Construction & Commissioning: Oversee installation and commissioning phases. Prepare RAMS, programmes, CPPs, schedules, and full documentation packs. Resolve site issues and technical challenges.

What You Will Need:

Essential:

  • Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment projects
  • Strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or Civils engineering
  • Understanding of Water Industry Standards (WIMES)
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • Experience with risk, quality, and change management
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Stakeholder and multidisciplinary team management experience
  • CSCS card
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • APM, PRINCE2, PMP certification
  • IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or NEBOSH
  • ONC/HNC/BEng or NVQ equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Experience delivering projects for water utility companies (e.g. Thames, Southern, Anglian, Yorkshire, UU)
