This is an excellent opportunity to lead significant highways earthworks projects, utilising cutting‑edge technology and contributing to critical infrastructure development.

About the Role

As a Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of earthworks design, modelling, and supervision for a range of highways projects. They will play a key role in ensuring the successful and safe execution of projects from inception to completion, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and modelling of complex earthworks schemes for highways projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Undertake volumetric calculations and material management.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Oversee site activities, ensuring adherence to design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Utilise and optimise the use of Leica survey equipment and software for data collection and analysis.
  • Proficiently use N4ce software for terrain modelling, earthworks design, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with earthworks operations.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and project planning.

About the Candidate

  • A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience specifically in highways earthworks projects.
  • Demonstrable expertise in the use of Leica survey equipment and associated software (e.g., Leica Infinity, Leica Geo Office).
  • Proven proficiency in N4ce software for earthworks design and modelling is essential.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks principles, geotechnics, and relevant design standards (e.g., DMRB).
  • Experience in supervising earthworks operations on site.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
