Role: Electrical Design Engineer – Water
Location: Birmingham
Rate: UP to £550 a day INSIDE IR35
Duration : 6 months + extension
A role is open for an experienced electrical engineer to oversee design and implementation responsibilities within infrastructure projects, particularly in water and wastewater sectors. This individual will lead electrical design elements, ensuring effective coordination with other disciplines and stakeholders to deliver project goals within scope, budget, and timeframes.
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead the development of detailed electrical system designs for infrastructure projects
·Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce accurate technical drawings and documentation
·Facilitate coordination between electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural teams
·Develop and review health and safety documents including risk assessments, permits, and method statements
·Prepare scopes of work and tender documentation for electrical packages
·Assess subcontractor proposals and pricing for electrical works
·Create technical deliverables such as single line diagrams, cable and equipment schedules, and schematic drawings
·Work with suppliers and subcontractors; manage procurement processes and documentation
·Supervise on-site installation teams, ensuring alignment with designs and timelines
·Carry out quality assurance checks and support commissioning processes
·Assist in project handover and final documentation phases
Requirements:
·Degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering or related discipline
·Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience
·Strong background in HV/LV systems, preferably in utilities or infrastructure projects
·Proficiency in relevant standards and regulations (e.g. wiring regulations, control systems, etc.)
·Valid driver\’s license
