An opportunity has arisen for a Traffic & Streetworks professional to support the assessment, coordination, and management of streetworks permit applications across the highway network. The role ensures that all works are effectively planned and coordinated to minimise disruption, reduce congestion, and maintain safety for both road users and operatives. Working in line with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), as amended by the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA), and the South East Permit Scheme, you will play a key role in supporting the authority's Network Management Duty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming streetworks permit applications and coordinate works across the highway network
  • Review the potential impact of proposed works and determine appropriate traffic management requirements
  • Ensure compliance with NRSWA (1991), Traffic Management Act (2004), and relevant permit schemes and guidance
  • Coordinate works to minimise disruption, congestion, and delays on the public highway
  • Provide advice on safe systems of work, ensuring safety of both operatives and the travelling public
  • Liaise with utility companies, contractors, internal teams, and partner organisations
  • Monitor and inspect works in progress to ensure compliance with agreed permits and conditions
  • Support the management of incidents and congestion as part of operational network response
