We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Surveyor to join a local authority property team on an interim basis. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, condition, and quality of council-owned housing stock through inspections, defect diagnosis, repair management, and contractor supervision. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cost-effective repairs and improvements across occupied and void properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections and surveys of council-owned residential properties.
- Diagnose building defects and specify effective remedial works.
- Manage repair and maintenance projects from inspection through to completion.
- Undertake surveys and prepare work specifications for void properties.
- Oversee contractors on-site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Assess issues relating to damp and mould, structural defects, and general disrepair.
- Produce reports, feasibility studies, and property-related recommendations.
- Provide desktop assessments of repair enquiries where appropriate, reducing unnecessary site visits.
Essential Requirements
- Housing surveying qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience surveying and managing repairs within residential housing stock.
- Strong knowledge of building defects, maintenance, and repair solutions.
- Experience managing contractors and monitoring works on-site.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
