Works Manager
Location: North Somerset
Contract: Freelance (CIS) - 7 months
Are you an experienced Works Manager with a strong background in highways and civil engineering?
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Works Manager to oversee the delivery of highways improvement works across North Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a hands-on approach and proven experience managing site teams, subcontractors and multiple work fronts within live highway environments.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of highways and civil engineering works, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to programme.
The works will include areas such as:
- Highway construction and improvement works
- Drainage and drainage infrastructure
- Kerbing, footways and surfacing
- Junction and carriageway works
- Traffic management and working within live highway environments
- Coordinating direct labour, subcontractors, plant and materials
- Ensuring works meet quality, safety and programme requirements
About You
We are looking for a Works Manager with:
- Proven experience delivering highways or civil engineering projects
- Strong experience with drainage, earthworks, kerbing, surfacing and highway construction
- Experience managing direct labour and subcontractor teams
- Experience working within live traffic environments
- Strong understanding of health, safety and quality requirements
- Ability to plan and sequence works across multiple work fronts
- Relevant CSCS qualification
- SMSTS
- First Aid
- Streetworks experience would be advantageous
