Are you a Stress Engineer looking to work on some of the UK's most advanced defence engineering projects? This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced stress engineer to join a high-performing embedded team delivering complex mechanical and structural solutions within a highly regulated environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects where safety, precision, and technical excellence are critical.

The Role

As a Stress Engineer, you'll be responsible for producing design calculations and supporting the development of mechanical equipment and structural support systems across major defence programmes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing stress calculations to recognised design codes including ASME and Eurocode
  • Supporting mechanical and structural design activities
  • Collaborating with CAD teams and suppliers to develop engineering drawings
  • Producing and updating technical specifications and reports
  • Supporting technical reviews and engineering assessments
  • Ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards
  • Delivering cost-effective and technically robust engineering solutions

Key Skills

  • Experience working with codes such as ASME VIII, EN13445, Eurocode 3, BS EN 1090 or EN13001
  • Background in stress analysis within defence, nuclear, heavy engineering, or similar industries
  • Knowledge of FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, or LS-Dyna
  • Understanding of steelwork, structural components, materials, and joint design
  • Experience producing stress analysis reports and engineering calculations
  • Familiarity with CE and/or UKCA compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
