Exciting opportunity for a Highway Site Supervisor in Derby. This role will play a key part in helping to drive the delivery of highway schemes, focusing on supervision, coordination, and supporting an in-house team. The successful candidate will be someone who can integrate well into an existing team, bring the right attitude, and help push programmes forward across a range of highway construction and maintenance activities. The main duties of the Highway Site Supervisor include:
- Supervising highway teams, including operatives, team leaders, apprentices, and agency staff.
- Scheduling and resource planning to ensure tasks are matched to skills and availability.
- Securing necessary permits, plant, and materials for projects in consultation with delivery teams.
- Coordinating cyclical maintenance and improvement initiatives to ensure highway assets operate effectively.
- Monitoring site safety, productivity, and quality of work, recording findings in asset management systems.
- Assisting with client quoting, scoping, and site visits throughout scheme delivery.
- Supporting the development, monitoring, and updating of standard operating procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Leading, motivating, and providing feedback to frontline teams, escalating issues when necessary.
- Assisting with recruitment and supporting training initiatives to promote team development.
- Participating in out-of-hours operational duties, including winter standby and weekend/evening scheme supervision when required.
