It is a full-time role within our Water Management team based in Swindon, delivering Flood Risk Assessments, drainage schemes, SuDS designs and flood mitigation schemes from concept to construction.
My client has a strong reputation for delivering results across a wide range of development planning services. They work with an extensive client list, including national house builders, land developers, commercial and retail businesses, renewable energy developers and government agencies in the UK. Their transport planning, water management, and infrastructure design teams work in unison to support the planning, design and construction process, and offer services ranging from feasibility studies, flood risk and transport assessments, to detailed engineering design and legal agreement preparations, delivering cost-effective practical solutions.
They are looking for both a Design Engineer and a Senior Engineer for full-time roles within their Water Management team located in Swindon. The Flood Risk and Water Management team deliver Flood Risk Assessments, drainage schemes, SuDS designs, and flood mitigation schemes from concept to construction. You’ll play a key role in both technical delivery and commercial performance, including involvement in the preparation of fee proposals and project management.
Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (such as Micro Drainage or Causeway Flow) is essential, while experience with QGIS, river modelling software, CAD and Site3D would be a bonus. The role is hybrid with a minimum of three days per week from the Swindon office and an opportunity to work from home.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience in undertaking Flood Risk Assessments and developing Drainage Strategies, including appropriate use of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) for a range of development types
- SuDS Retrofit design and assessment
- S23 Land Drainage / Ordinary Watercourse Consents
- Environmental Permits for Flood Risk Activities Applications
- Experience in the use of the latest hydraulic modelling, ground modelling and GIS software and tools (e.g. Causeway Flow, CAD, QGIS)
- Knowledge of water management principles and infrastructure design
- Knowledge of the UK planning system and principles of Environmental Impact Assessment
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience in the consultancy sector is a plus
