Are you a Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE C) with experience delivering heavy civils and structures projects within the rail sector from pre-construction through to delivery?

Location: Colchester and Anglia Region (covering projects from Peterborough southwards)

Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 per annum DOE

Role Overview: Due to continued growth and success on major rail frameworks, my client is looking to appoint a Buildings & Civils CRE to support the delivery of RNSS Lot 2 projects across the Anglia region.

This role will focus on major civils and structures schemes, including bridge works and associated rail infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with rail standards while providing strong technical and operational leadership.

You will join a business known for its proactive culture, short communication lines, and strong team environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of project delivery rather than operating in a purely office-based role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as CRE across rail civils and structures projects
  • Lead delivery of bridge and heavy civils schemes
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering oversight on live projects
  • Support project teams with planning, methodology, and delivery strategy
  • Ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with Network Rail standards
  • Coordinate with operational, commercial, and engineering teams
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders
  • Drive programme performance and problem solving across projects

Essential Requirements:

  • Signed off as a Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE C)
  • Experience delivering bridges, structures, or heavy civils projects within the rail industry
  • Background as a Site Agent or Project Manager
  • PTS and SMSTS
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Hands-on and delivery-focused approach

Desired Requirements:

  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
  • Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent)
