My client is seeking an experienced Safety, Health and Wellbeing Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of regional civil engineering projects across the South Coast. This is an excellent opportunity for a Safety, Health and Wellbeing Advisor who wants to work on meaningful infrastructure schemes while developing their career within a supportive and progressive organisation.
My client is a leading civil engineering contractor delivering safe, sustainable and efficient transport and infrastructure solutions across the UK. Their Regional Civil Engineering team delivers highways, public realm, bridge, drainage and flood alleviation projects for local authorities and public-sector clients, helping improve everyday infrastructure within local communities.
As a Safety, Health and Wellbeing Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting operational teams, driving continual improvement and ensuring the highest standards of safety, health and wellbeing are maintained across multiple projects.
What You Will Be Doing
- Support the delivery of the Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy across regional civil engineering projects.
- Provide professional advice, guidance and coaching to operational teams.
- Promote a positive safety culture through proactive engagement and leadership.
- Monitor Safety, Health and Wellbeing performance, analyse trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are effectively communicated and embedded.
- Carry out audits, inspections and assurance reviews against recognised standards including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and RISQS requirements.
- Attend project, client and stakeholder meetings, acting as the Safety, Health and Wellbeing subject matter expert.
- Support the development and delivery of safety communications, briefings and awareness campaigns.
- Provide proactive input during project planning and pre-construction stages.
- Build strong relationships with delivery teams, clients and internal departments to promote best practice across all activities.
What Success Looks Like
To be successful in this Safety, Health and Wellbeing Advisor position, you will be confident working within live construction and civil engineering environments. You will be a proactive communicator who can positively influence behaviours, challenge where required and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
You will bring:
- NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum qualification.
- Appropriate CSCS Card.
- Tech IOSH membership.
- Environmental Awareness and Investigation Training.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- At least one year's experience within construction or civil engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of Safety, Health and Wellbeing management systems and industry best practice.
- Experience undertaking audits, investigations and reporting activities.
Desirable experience:
- Auditor Training qualification.
Salary and Benefits
Salary up to £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience. In addition, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package including:
