Role Overview:
Due to continued growth across major rail frameworks, my client is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Construction CRE to support the delivery of North ERP and RNSS Lot 1 projects across the North of the Eastern region.
This is a key leadership role within a fast-growing railway contractor that has built a strong reputation through quality delivery, proactive problem solving, and a collaborative culture. The successful candidate will operate across a variety of rail earthworks and geotechnical schemes, taking responsibility for safe delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
This role is ideal for a hands-on CRE who enjoys being close to delivery and working within a team-focused environment. You will play a key role in managing projects, supporting operational teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Network Rail standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) across geotechnical rail projects
- Manage delivery of earthworks, drainage, and geotechnical packages
- Support project teams with planning, methodology, and technical solutions
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and in compliance with rail standards
- Work closely with Site Agents, Project Managers, and operational teams
- Provide technical leadership and support across multiple live projects
- Maintain strong communication with clients and framework partners
- Contribute to programme management and project delivery strategy
Essential Requirements:
- Signed off as a Contractor's Responsible Engineer for Construction (CRE)
- Experience delivering geotechnical, earthworks, or drainage schemes on rail projects
- Background as a Site Agent or Project Manager
- PTS and SMSTS
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Hands-on, proactive approach to delivery
Desired Requirements:
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
- Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent)
