Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE

Role Overview: Due to continued growth and increased project workload within their rail division, my client is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of multiple rail infrastructure and station improvement schemes across South Wales. This role will focus on a variety of smaller-value NEC Option A / lump sum projects, including station refurbishment works, toilet installation and upgrade schemes on the Core Valley Lines, and facilities management projects. The successful candidate will support the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account while gaining exposure to a wide range of rail and civils works. You will join a family-run business with a centralised commercial function supporting rail, civils, highways, and structures projects across the UK. The business is known for its collaborative culture, flexibility, and investment in staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the commercial management of NEC Option A projects
  • Support subcontract procurement and administration
  • Assist with valuations, variations, and cost reporting
  • Support the preparation of CVRs and project forecasts
  • Work closely with operational teams on project delivery
  • Attend weekly site visits across South Wales
  • Assist with contract administration and commercial documentation
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and subcontractors

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working under NEC contracts
  • Contractor background within the rail industry

Desired Requirements:

  • NEC Option A experience
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Working towards chartership or professional accreditation
