Planner - Water Infrastructure | Contract Location: Bristol Working Pattern: 5 days per week office/site based Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you a construction-focused Planner who understands how projects are actually delivered on site? We're working with an established infrastructure contractor delivering water and wastewater projects across the Wessex Water region as part of AMP8. With a strong pipeline of capital delivery work, they're looking for an experienced Planner who can take ownership of construction programmes, work closely with site teams and ensure projects are planned realistically from the outset. This isn't a role purely focused on updating programmes and producing reports. They need someone who understands construction sequencing, buildability and the practical challenges of delivering civil engineering works. The Opportunity You'll be joining an established delivery team, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and Engineers to develop and manage construction programmes across water infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to influence how works are planned and delivered, identifying potential programme risks early, challenging unrealistic sequencing and supporting teams in keeping projects on track. Your responsibilities will include: ·Developing and maintaining detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. ·Building realistic, logic-linked programmes that reflect construction methodologies, resources and site constraints. ·Working directly with site teams to monitor progress and identify potential delays. ·Producing look-ahead programmes, critical path analysis and recovery plans. ·Managing NEC programme requirements, including programme updates and change impacts. ·Supporting construction teams with planning workshops, progress reviews and programme reporting. ·Identifying opportunities to improve sequencing and programme efficiency. What We're Looking For We're particularly interested in speaking with Planners who have genuine construction delivery knowledge, rather than solely a project controls or reporting background. You'll ideally bring: ·Previous planning experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or water projects. ·Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, methodologies and buildability. ·Experience producing construction programmes from scratch. ·Competency using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. ·Understanding of NEC contracts and programme requirements. ·Confidence working directly with construction teams and challenging programme assumptions. ·Water or wastewater project experience would be advantageous. Why Consider This Opportunity? ·AMP8 project pipeline: Opportunity to work on water infrastructure projects throughout the current investment period. ·Hands-on delivery: Work directly with construction teams rather than being removed from site activities. ·Programme ownership: Play a key role in developing achievable programmes and supporting successful project delivery. ·Established contractor: Join a business with an existing presence in the UK water infrastructure sector. Please note: This position requires attendance five days per week across office and associated project sites
