We are seeking an experienced and strategic senior leader to join a local authority in Berkshire as Director of Housing Needs and Support. This pivotal role provides leadership across housing needs services, including homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation, housing advice, and compliance with social housing regulation and safety standards.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead the transformation and improvement of housing services, implementing efficient and sustainable service models that deliver high-quality outcomes for residents. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Council's homelessness and rough sleeping strategy and leading an urgent improvement programme in response to independent reviews of temporary and permanent accommodation.
As a member of the Council's senior leadership team, you will provide strong corporate leadership, manage significant budgets, ensure value for money, and identify opportunities for savings and income generation. You will foster a culture of performance, accountability and continuous improvement, while building strong partnerships across the Council, with local agencies and central government.
This role requires a proven strategic leader with substantial experience in housing or related public services, a strong understanding of statutory housing duties, and a clear commitment to equality, diversity and excellent service delivery for Berkshire residents.
