An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Transport Services Manager to work with all of our bus operating companies, community transport, and other stakeholders to build a smart, integrated network of public transport.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commissioning, tendering, and ongoing performance of socially necessary bus services and other passenger transport contracts, ensuring coverage of rural communities with limited commercial provision.
- Be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and service standard; ensure that all public transport services, including community transport, comply with national and local legislation (e.g., Public Service Vehicles regulations, BSOG, SEN transport guidelines).
- Accountable for enabling the delivery of service objectives through giving guidance and direction to in‐house staff and suppliers within the commissioning framework, through contracts and direct provision for the service area.
- Provide relevant technical advice and services to support corporate services and initiatives.
- Manage the commissioning of significant budgets in excess of £5 million per year.
Qualifications and Experience
- Expected to undertake supervision, professional development and support of your staff.
- Understand local authorities and be comfortable working with elected members as well as officers.
- Work to raise the profile of public transport with your colleagues across the whole council as well as the rest of the county.
