Rate: £600 per day

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager for a contract role on a major UK infrastructure project based in Birmingham. This is an urgent requirement to support the client's team in driving design activities to a critical project milestone. The position is initially for a six-month period, with a strong possibility of extension.

Your Role

As the Design Manager, you will be responsible for orchestrating and closing out all design activities up to the end of Stage 4. Your key duties will include:

  • Driving the completion of design deliverables and ensuring accountability within the team.
  • Managing the design process for building services (MEP).
  • Working alongside the existing team to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
  • Preparing for the successful handover of design to the Stage 5 delivery team.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who is immediately available or finishing a contract shortly.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager.
  • Background in major projects or infrastructure (e.g., rail, data centres, energy).
  • Experience working within regulated project environments.
  • Ability to work on-site in Birmingham at least 3 days per week.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with HS2 or other major rail projects.
  • Background working for a main contractor, although consultancy or MEP-specific experience will also be strongly considered.
