The depot has been described as a “mini railway” and requires a genuine multi-disciplinary railway engineering leader capable of coordinating track, OCS, communications, signalling, buildings, MEPH systems, and rolling stock interfaces within a highly integrated operational environment. You will work closely with contractors, designers, consultants, and stakeholders to provide engineering leadership, technical assurance, interface management, and delivery oversight from design through to testing, commissioning, and handover.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong depot experience and a background managing complex railway systems integration and engineering interfaces.

Essential experience:

  • Previous rail depot experience
  • Strong multi-disciplinary railway engineering background
  • Experience delivering projects through the full lifecycle including design, construction, testing, and handover
  • Experience managing engineering interfaces across complex infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams, designers, or engineering delivery functions

  • Strong understanding of engineering assurance and practical project delivery

Desirable experience:

  • Experience operating as a CEM or Engineering Manager
  • Knowledge of depot operational systems and rolling stock interfaces
  • Experience working within contractor or consultancy delivery environments
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role on the UK’s most significant rail depot developments, offering long-term project exposure across design, construction, systems integration, and commissioning.
