My client is seeking an experienced Senior Adoptions Engineer to join their Preconstruction team based in Nottinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a highways professional who enjoys working at the heart of development infrastructure projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring new highway schemes are delivered to the highest standards.

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering safer, more sustainable, and better-connected communities. You'll help bring new developments into the highway network, ensuring critical infrastructure is designed, constructed, and adopted in line with the required standards.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Adoptions Engineer, you will take a leading role in managing highway adoption and agreement works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all relevant legislation and standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading site inspections associated with Section 38 and Section 278 highway works.
  • Monitoring construction progress and providing technical guidance to developers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring works comply with legal agreements, specifications, industry standards, and adopted highway requirements.
  • Managing communication and consultation with clients, developers, elected members, members of the public, and internal teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships while protecting and enhancing the organisation's reputation.
  • Supporting the delivery of highway infrastructure projects that contribute to safer and more connected communities.
  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, policies, and best practice.
  • Safeguarding the wellbeing of staff, contractors, and the public throughout project delivery.

About You

To be successful as a Senior Adoptions Engineer, you will ideally have:

  • An HNC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant post-qualification experience, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Strong ICT skills, including experience with engineering design software, CAD systems, and data management environments.
  • A solid understanding of current highway and civil engineering design standards.
  • Knowledge of highways legislation, traffic management requirements, construction standards, and health and safety best practice.
  • Experience working with highway development agreements, including Section 38 and Section 278 works.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
  • A valid CSCS card.
