Exciting Opportunity for a Drainage Engineer in North Lincolnshire
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to join a Local Authority Drainage and Coastal Defence team.
The role will focus on the investigation, design and delivery of flood-risk, highway drainage and coastal-defence schemes across the area.
You will support the council in fulfilling its responsibilities as a Lead Local Flood Authority, Coastal Protection Authority and Highway Authority, while helping to deliver a multi-million-pound capital programme.
The main duties of the Drainage Engineer include
- Planning, designing, procuring and supervising drainage, flood-alleviation and coastal-defence schemes.
- Managing projects from initial investigation through to construction and completion.
- Investigating property and highway flooding incidents and preparing Section 19 reports.
- Managing contractors undertaking CCTV surveys, high-pressure jetting and civil engineering repairs.
- Producing technical drawings, reports, specifications, risk assessments and project documentation.
- Monitoring project programmes, budgets, quality and health and safety compliance.
- Liaising with the Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Boards, Anglian Water, contractors and internal council teams.
- Providing technical advice to residents, businesses, landowners and other stakeholders.
- Supporting the response to flooding events and pollution incidents when required.
The Drainage Engineer will have key experience in
- Delivering drainage, flood-risk management, highway drainage or coastal-defence schemes.
- Managing engineering projects and contractors from inception through to completion.
- Undertaking flood investigations, asset management, data collection and engineering design.
- Producing and interpreting technical drawings, reports and specifications.
- Knowledge of flood-risk legislation, health and safety requirements, procurement and contract management.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD.
- Strong stakeholder-management, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A minimum Level 5 qualification in Civil Engineering, Highways, Transportation, Flood-Risk Management or a related discipline.
- A current driving licence and access to your own transport.
- Previous Local Authority highways or drainage experience would be advantageous.
