About the Opportunity
My client is a well-established principal contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex highways and civil engineering projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a major infrastructure scheme in Bedford.
The Role
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of a £200 million highways and civils project. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Team to ensure strong commercial performance, effective contract administration and successful project delivery from procurement through to final account.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the commercial delivery of key work packages from procurement through to final account.
- Preparing and reviewing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports.
- Managing subcontract procurement, negotiations and final account agreements.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks while implementing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting value engineering initiatives to maximise project performance.
- Administering NEC contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment and managing change control.
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Supporting and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors where required.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
What You'll Need
To be considered for this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, you will ideally have:
- Experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor within the highways or civil engineering sector.
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure or major civil engineering projects.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.
- Experience managing subcontract accounts through to final account.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
