Are you an experienced Site Engineer looking for your next freelance highways project?
We are currently recruiting for a Freelance Site Engineer to support a major sign renewal scheme in Hampshire. This is a night-based freelance opportunity running through to April 2027.
The role
The scheme involves the replacement of defective traffic signs and posts, with the works initially focusing on vegetation clearance, surveys and the installation of approximately 50 new signs.
As Site Engineer, you will be involved across the delivery and coordination of the site investigation and installation works, including:
·Topographical surveys and establishing site extents
·GPR surveys and utility mapping
·PAS128 utility detection and verification
·Identifying and verifying existing underground services
·Trial holes and slit trenches
·WAC testing
·Vegetation clearance to facilitate surveys
·Setting out and supporting the installation of new traffic signage
·Working alongside the wider project team to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently
What we're looking for
We're keen to speak with Site Engineers who have a strong highways/civils background and experience working on live road schemes, particularly those comfortable working on night shifts.
Experience with setting out, surveying, utilities and traffic management environments would be particularly relevant.
