Stock Condition Surveyor Location: Basildon, Essex Contract: Temporary, Full Time - Initial 3-6 Months Rate: £32.00 per hour (Umbrella) Closing Date: 17th August 2026 An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Stock Condition Surveyor to join Basildon Borough Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. Working within the Council's Landlord Services team, you will play an important role in supporting the long-term strategic management of a substantial housing portfolio comprising more than 11,000 social rented homes and associated assets. The Council operates a significant rolling revenue and capital investment programme of approximately £36-38 million per year, and accurate stock condition information is essential in helping to inform future maintenance, improvement and investment decisions. The Role Reporting to the Stock Condition Co-ordinator, you will undertake property surveys and collect accurate condition data across the Council's housing stock and associated assets. Key responsibilities will include: ·Undertaking stock condition surveys to assess individual properties, key building elements, remaining component life and required works. ·Carrying out HHSRS assessments and identifying potential Category 1 hazards to ensure appropriate action can be taken. ·Collecting property energy efficiency data for RdSAP calculations. ·Producing accurate survey records and clear, concise reports to support strategic investment planning. ·Working with information relating to repairs, maintenance and improvement programmes delivered by the Council, contractors, consultants and partner organisations. ·Ensuring duties are undertaken in accordance with relevant Health & Safety procedures and legislation. What We're Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: ·Previous experience within building surveying or architectural practice. ·Strong experience undertaking stock condition surveys, HHSRS assessments and RdSAP data collection. ·Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations. ·Domestic Energy Assessment training or relevant experience. ·A minimum qualification to ONC level or equivalent. ·Strong report-writing and record-management skills. ·Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience using handheld surveying software. ·A good standard of literacy and numeracy.
