An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to come and join a busy client in South Yorkshire on an initial 6 month contract basis.

The main duties of the experienced Transport Planner are:

  • To develop and deliver appropriate transport strategies
  • Provide advice on transport standards to relevant partners and stakeholders
  • Represent the authority at regional & National meeting and forums
  • Manage consultation process on planning applications
  • Contribute to maintaining and improving the existing partnerships within the Council and partners to deal with transportation issues.
  • Support on the management of the capital and revenue budgets for relevant programmes ensuring the effective forward planning and budget monitoring of both budgets are kept up to date.
  • Manage, monitor and review the quality and performance of suppliers and contractors delivering transportation services.
  • To maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant Transport policy.

The experienced Transport Planner will have:

  • Degree in Planning or Transport or a related Subject
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the transport policy, planning process, highways design standards, existing and emerging legislation, and policies relevant to the service area.
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills and the ability to reconcile conflicting issues.
  • Experience in undertaking work across a range of specialist activities to successfully deliver transportation projects
  • Understanding project management techniques
  • Proven track record in preparing complex reports and attend cabinet & regulatory boards in support of senior officers and to act as the representative of the council in meetings with developers, members of the public and other stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in implementing projects in accordance with policy, design standards and financial parameters
