An exciting opportunity has arisen with a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support continued growth and lead the delivery of a varied project portfolio across the commercial, residential, industrial and mixed-use sectors. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical challenge, ownership of projects, and mentoring others within a collaborative consultancy environment.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for the design and delivery of structural packages, supporting junior engineers and technicians, and acting as a key technical point of contact for clients and project teams.
Key responsibilities
- Leading structural design from concept to construction (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
- Producing and checking calculations, reports, and specifications
- Managing technical delivery, programme inputs, and coordinating with CAD/Revit teams
- Attending client/design team meetings and providing clear technical advice
- Overseeing responses to site queries, inspections, and resolving construction-stage issues
- Checking and mentoring junior engineers, supporting development and quality standards
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant UK regulations, Eurocodes/BS standards and best practice
About You
- Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Strong UK consultancy experience (typically 5+ years, but flexible based on capability)
- Working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE (or already Chartered)
- Confident producing and reviewing structural calculations and deliverables
- Competent with design software
- Comfortable taking ownership of projects and communicating with clients and stakeholders
- A proactive, collaborative approach and an eye for buildable, efficient design
