We are working with a rapidly growing, market-leading consultancy in the R&D and innovation funding space, who are scaling their commercial team in the City of London. This is not a standard sales role. Our client is looking for commercially sharp, relationship-driven individuals who already have a network, understand how to open doors, and can build long-term client relationships at a senior level. The product can be taught. The network, credibility and mindset cannot.

You will be responsible for building and developing your own portfolio of clients across a wide range of industries, helping businesses unlock funding and tax relief linked to innovation, growth and investment. This is a role for someone who wants to move quickly, build something of their own, and be rewarded properly for doing so.

What you will be doing:

  • Building and developing a portfolio of clients across sectors investing in innovation and growth
  • Identifying and creating new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and proactive outreach
  • Owning relationships end-to-end, from initial conversation through to ongoing account development
  • Working closely with delivery and compliance teams to ensure a smooth and high-quality client experience
  • Operating with a high level of autonomy, accountability and commercial focus
  • Using data and performance metrics to track and improve results

Experience in R&D tax or innovation funding is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to generate business, build trust, and leverage an existing network.

Strong transferable backgrounds include:

  • Professional services (tax, accounting, consultancy, corporate finance)
  • Legal (client development, corporate, commercial or technology-focused roles)
  • Technology sales (particularly solution-led or enterprise environments)
  • Engineering or technical recruitment with an established client base
  • Life sciences / pharma commercial roles
  • Innovation, grants or funding advisory

If you currently sell into CFOs, Finance Directors, CTOs, Heads of Engineering or similar senior stakeholders, you will likely align well.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven ability to win new business and build lasting client relationships
  • A strong black book or the confidence to build one quickly
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to sell value (not just price)
  • A proactive, resilient mindset with a genuine drive to succeed
  • Strong communication skills and credibility with senior stakeholders
  • A self-sufficient approach with high personal standards

This is a great opportunity and salary is dependent upon experience. Apply now for more details.
