Work Pattern: 37 hours a week, (9 am till 5:30 pm) Hybrid, On site in Walsall two days per week including Tuesdays (Planning Department all-in day)

PAYE Pay Rate: Β£25.27 per hour

Main Purpose

To manage planning applications and enforcement cases, provide planning advice and support an effective Development Management service.

Key Duties

  • Manage minor and householder planning applications.
  • Deal with pre-application enquiries.
  • Investigate planning enforcement cases.
  • Prepare reports, recommendations and correspondence.
  • Carry out consultations and site visits.
  • Monitor planning conditions and approved developments.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and complaints.
  • Attend meetings and present planning cases when required.
  • Maintain accurate planning records and case files.
  • Work to statutory deadlines, KPIs and service standards.
  • Keep up to date with planning legislation and policies.
  • Work with residents, developers, agents, Councilors and colleagues.

Essential Skills

  • Planning or development management experience.
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and policies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization and workload management.
  • Excellent customer service and IT skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
  • Ability to interpret planning drawings.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Relevant planning qualification or equivalent experience.
