We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver transformational projects within Nottingham’s Children and Education Services. This role focuses on improving outcomes for children, young people, and families, driving efficiency, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across a range of services.
The successful candidate will manage projects that deliver service improvement plans and strategies across areas including Fostering, Children in Care, Leaving Care, First Response, and commissioning of services. This is a non-IT focused transformation role, requiring strong change management skills and proven experience in children’s social care.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and deliver projects and workstreams that meet agreed objectives, deliverables, outcomes, and benefits, including improved outcomes for children, young people, and families, and sustainable cost savings where appropriate.
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure project success and impact.
- Prepare Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), business cases, and monthly highlight reports.
- Engage and collaborate effectively with Directors, Heads of Service, and frontline practitioners to ensure successful implementation of service improvements.
- Apply a practical, can-do approach to change management in challenging and complex environments.
- Drive the embedding of continuous improvement culture across Children’s Services.
The role will support and deliver projects including, but not limited to:
- Interventions supporting children and families in and out of care.
- Commissioning and re-design of children’s services.
- Implementation of service improvement plans and strategies.
- Service areas including Fostering, Children in Care, Leaving Care, and First Response.
- Proven experience delivering transformational change in Children’s Services / Social Care.
- Experience working with senior leaders and frontline practitioners.
- Strong change management skills with the ability to embed sustainable improvements.
- Professional Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, APM).
- Ability to develop data- and evidence-based business cases and reports.
- Experience in commissioning or service redesign in local authority children’s services.
- Track record of delivering improved outcomes for children, young people, and families while achieving efficiencies.
