Service Area: Facilities Services β District Caretaking
Job Purpose
To support the District Caretaking team in delivering a high-quality environmental and facilities maintenance service across local areas, ensuring public spaces are clean, safe, and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out grounds maintenance and environmental upkeep across assigned areas
- Use handheld plant and equipment including:
- Strimmers
- Hedge trimmers
- Weed sprayers
- Blowers
- Jet washers
- Undertake general cleaning and maintenance of outdoor/public spaces
- Perform basic DIY tasks and minor repairs where required
- Work as part of a team to complete scheduled tasks efficiently
- Follow instructions from supervisors and complete work to required standards
- Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and council policies
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in a manual, outdoor or operational maintenance role
- Confident using handheld tools and maintenance equipment
- Basic understanding of DIY and practical repair work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, physically fit, and willing to work outdoors in all conditions
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices
Desirable
- Full UK driving licence (may be required for travel between sites)
