To provide senior event management for a busy annual programme of cultural, corporate, commercial, community third-party events in line with the Culture Strategy.
To oversee the management of the third-party events approval process and provide health and safety advice.
To support the development of commercial income-generating opportunities.
DUTIES
- Support the day-to-day delivery of the council’s cultural and corporate event programme, including all aspects of production, creative programming, and project management in line with the Event Policy.
- Contribute to delivering the council’s Culture Strategy by liaising with key cultural and community partners, as well as third-party and commercial event organizations.
- Develop opportunities for income from commercial events, working towards income targets.
- Oversee the event application approval process for all events in the Borough, making decisions with awareness of the political landscape and Council priorities.
- Utilize IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualifications to ensure the safe delivery of all events, including approving health and safety plans.
- Liaise with private and public landowners, borough agencies, and internal departments (such as police, fire brigade, ambulance, health services, traffic management, licensing, trading standards, environmental health, community safety, parking, and waste management) for successful event execution.
- Attend Safety Advisory Group meetings to provide relevant safety information for scheduled cultural events.
- Procure services following procedures set within Contract Standing Orders and the Borough’s Financial regulations.
- Lead the delivery of Council events for the Events and Culture team and support other departments as needed.
- Plan Royal Borough events considering HSE Guidelines and regulations on Health and Safety Management.
- Provide onsite event management as needed for outdoor and indoor events.
- Coordinate with Members and Senior staff, representing the team and Council at meetings, including briefings, presentations, and project updates.
- Coordinate volunteer and apprentice input for events as necessary.
- Manage spending within project budget guidelines.
- Perform all duties aligned with the Council’s staff values, demonstrating commitment to residents’ lives and opportunities, respect, fairness, ownership, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Demonstrate the Council’s Equality and Equity charter in all deliverables.
Umbrella hourly rate – £30.56
