Job Purpose: To provide a professional HR advisory service across the organisation, supporting managers and senior leaders with a wide range of employee relations, organisational change, and HR policy matters. The role will ensure HR practices are legally compliant, consistent, and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Advisory Support: Provide day‑to‑day HR advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employment issues. Advise on HR policies, procedures, and best practice in line with employment law. Support managers in handling employee relations matters effectively and fairly.
- Employee Relations (ER) Casework: Manage and advise on formal ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, and appeals. Support and advise Chairs during formal hearings and appeal panels. Ensure cases are handled consistently, fairly, and in line with policy and legislation.
- Organisational Change: Support restructure programmes and organisational redesign activities. Provide HR advice on TUPE transfers, ensuring compliance with legislation and consultation requirements. Advise managers on change management processes and employee consultation.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Ensure policies reflect current employment law and organisational needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Essential: CIPD qualified at Level 5 or above, or working towards full CIPD membership. Strong experience in HR advisory or employee relations roles. Knowledge of employment law and HR best practice. Experience supporting formal HR processes such as disciplinaries, grievances, and appeals. Ability to advise and influence managers and senior stakeholders.
- Desirable: Experience working within local government or the wider public sector. Experience supporting TUPE and organisational restructures.
